Did you know that Curry Health Network has already invested $21 million in our community at the Fifth Street clinic?
In this edition of Community Conversations host Connie Hunter reaches out to Brookings Mayor Ron Hedenskog and Curry Health Network CEO Virginia “Ginny” Razo to provide factual information and perspective about Ballot initiative 8-84. Measure 8-84 provides for the expansion of the Curry Health District into south Curry County.
Ron, Vice Chair of the Friends of Curry Health District Political Action Committee (PAC), gives his perspective on the importance of the improved access to health care that the expanded healthcare district will provide. Ginny provides facts absent any opinion – the law does not allow her to make any political statements because of her position as CEO of the Curry Health Network.
The recent Tea Party town hall meeting on this issue is a good place to start one’s personal search for information, but the community dialog shouldn’t stop there. As the debate unfolds, it’s up to individual citizens, the media, and advocates on both sides of the issue to go the extra mile to address the the misconceptions and illuminate the facts. This issue is literally a matter of life and death.
The purpose of Community Conversations, particularly in this interview, is to remind people that freedom is a two-sided coin. One side is freedom, one side is responsibility. With an open mind, please exercise your responsibility and delve into this important issue. Additional pertinent information might well change your mind!
