Join Our Community host Candice Michel as she continues the discussion of forest fires and forest management in South-Western Oregon.
In the previous episode, Candice talked with Merv George, Forest Supervisor of the Rogue River/Siskiyou National Forest, about firefighting strategies and some of the effects of last year’s Chetco Bar Fire, and with Cate Road resident Jeri Lynn Thompson, who experienced the fire first-hand.
In this two-part episode of Our Community, Candice continues the discussion with Jeri Lynn Thompson, along with community members Al Stroh and Guy McMahan, who have investigated the problems with the Forest Service response to the Chetco Bar Fire. Then Candice discusses forest management with Dr. Bob Zybach, a forest fire specialist born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, who has studied the history of wildfires in Western Oregon.
