You’ve likely heard the Curry County Board of Commissioners voted to transfer our local health authority to the Oregon Health Authority on April 16, 2021. That move is permitted under Oregon law if a county can’t fulfill its Public Health Service obligations. As of May 2, 2021, the Oregon Health Authority began taking control of Curry County’s Public Health Department responsibilities. KCIW reached out to OHA Deputy Health Director Cara Biddlecom and asked her what all of this means to the folks here in Curry County.
