In this episode of the Doc & Jacques radio variety show, geologist Dane Robinson discusses his background, military service, and academic journey that led him to study coastal geology in Northern California and Oregon. He recounts discovering a rare ancient “ghost forest” and tsunami deposits exposed at Pebble Beach in Crescent City, providing evidence of prehistoric Cascadia subduction zone events. Robinson also explains local tectonic processes and describes finding submerged wood and pinecones. He encourages citizen scientists to spot and report geological findings along the coastline.
