To regulate or not to regulate, that’s the question. Should the Brookings City Council place restrictions on the location and height of ham radio antenna towers? Ham radio operators don’t want local restrictions. Some of their neighbours disagree.
What does the Brookings Planning Commission recommend and why? Setbacks? Safety issues? Design standards? The issue was taken up at the June 2, 2015, Planning Commission meeting.
Community Conversations host and program producer Connie Hunter talks with Planning Commission Chair Bryan Tillung about this community debate. Extra insight is provided when Planning Commissioner Skip Hunter talks with Stew Frame about a similar municipal legislative decision in California.
As follow-up, Connie tracks this issue through the June 22 City Council Meeting.
